I messed around all morning, taking walks across to the sea to see if there was any surf and what the wind was doing, then got into watching Paula Radcliffe win the marathon so eventually got to the estuary around 1pm at low tide. There was plenty of wind so I rigged my little wave board and 5.0m sail and sailed off downwind through the channel, past the point and out into the main channel of the Dovey estuary in front of Aberdovey. There were a couple of other people out on 5m sails and we had a good couple of hours blasting back and forth on the flat waters. There was a little bit of steep chop in some places allowing for some little chop hops, but nothing too big. My gybing was good with some nice fast fully planing wide-arc turns in the flattest water on the Southern side of the channel and some snappy slam gybes in the more flukey winds and choppy waters of the Aberdovey side.
I stopped for a bit on Aberdovey beach and got chatting to another windsurfer from Bristol who was in Wales for the weekend, but hadn't brought her kit... She wasn't happy!

The wind then started to get a little gusty with a few big lulls. I decided to head back to the estuary to see how the others were getting on, and made it just in time... I limped back through the channels relying more on the currents than the wind, often sinking up to my knees. Dave, Sarah, Fisky and LS still weren't on the water (2 hours after having started rigging!). Sarah had given up and the others were just about ready.

The wind filled in a little more but was still gusty, so I decided to get back out there and join them. A couple of other guys (one from Torquay and someone else I didn't speak to) also came out for a sail on the flat waters in the gusty winds. Again, some nice gybes but really just blasting back and forth.

I then had a quick go on Daves HUGE Phoenix... Its was a bit weird sailing something that big. It certainly doesn't respond too well to footsteering.. I did manage to carve gybe it in the end though.

Al in all and average session, but a bit flat and boring really, even though it was 5m weather.
